WHO ARE OUR STUDENTS

TLP students are people who:

  • Have literacy-related goals
  • Are 18 years of age or older or are incarcerated youth
  • Live or work in Tompkins County
  • Are Immigrants, refugees, permanent residents, or citizens of the U.S.
  • Individuals and their families who come to the U.S. for a brief time to work or study at Cornell or Ithaca College are not eligible for a tutor.

    In recent years, students have celebrated achievements as diverse as reading and writing their ABC's, passing the civics exam required for becoming a U.S. citizen, and obtaining their G.E.D.
