Who Are Our Students?
TLP students are people who:
-
- Have literacy-related goals
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Live or work in Tompkins County
- Are native English speakers or immigrants and refugees whose first language is not English
Individuals and their families who come to the U.S. for a brief time to work or study at Cornell or Ithaca College are not eligible for a tutor.
In recent years, students have celebrated achievements as diverse as learning to read and write, passing the civics exam required for becoming a U.S. citizen, and obtaining their G.E.D.

” I am reading and spelling words that I never could before. Everyone at the place is real nice to me and I feel very comfortable here. I look forward to coming each and every day to learn more. It is an experience I will never forget. “
