It’s been a joy to be a part of the Tompkins Learning Partners community since I started as Executive Director in July 2024. I’m moved by the passion and commitment of our staff and volunteers and by the motivation, dreams, and inspirational life stories of our students. Seeing the transformative and mutually-rewarding relationships that develop between tutors and their students reinforces the power of this model of adult learning. The work of these one-to-one learning partnerships results in the attainment of dreams, including employment that provides family support, pursuit of ongoing education, citizenship, high school equivalency diplomas and more. Each of these students has so much to offer our community, and gaining confidence and literacy skills enables them to engage more fully in all aspects of their lives and to thrive. The example they are setting as tenacious, lifelong learners has profound ripple effects.
I come to TLP with a background in educational and non-profit leadership and teaching. I’ve volunteered teaching English to adults and working with immigrant and refugee children and families. I share the love of learning that is at the heart of TLP’s work and am so excited to develop and deepen my connections with all of you.
