Student Achievements
Tompkins Learning Partners’ students choose to work with trained volunteers or staff to build reading, writing, math, English, digital, or other related skills. Many have one or more jobs, are caregivers for children or elders, or have other responsibilities in addition to studying at TLP. We are very proud of them for making the commitment to learn and grow alongside their tutors.
Here are just some of their accomplishments in the past year:
17
students obtained jobs for the first time or improved their employment situations
12
students passed the interview for US citizenship
5
students passed one or more subject area tests on the GED
7
students enrolled in post-secondary education or training programs
16
students volunteered in their communities
In addition to these successes, TLP students registered to vote, became first-time homebuyers, signed up for library cards, provided interpretation services for other community members, read to their grandchildren in English for the first time, became peer advocates for mental health, and much more.
